Bertec is founded on custom designing and manufacturing load measurement devices.  Our research engineers are fond of saying, “We can do that.”

Load Cells

Since our early start in custom load cells, Bertec has accepted any customer’s design challenge.  With load cells capable of measuring one force component or six, we have the building blocks and experience to build devices that will meet your demands.  We can make a wide array of force transducers from very large devices with high load capacities to very small devices with high sensitivity.

Six Component Load Cell (PY6)

 Our expertise enables us to take our load cell technology to whole new uses.  We have built a transducer large enough for a study on the gait of cows (2070x460x250 mm with a vertical load range of 15,000 N) and sensitive enough for a dual-transducer treadmill for rats (one unit is 10”x3”x2.75” with a load range of 60N in all three directions).  Besides custom designs for animal tests, we designed 6-component transducers for track-and-field starting blocks.  These transducers can handle the rigors and damages associated with a physical outdoor sport.  Please take a look at some of our past specialty force plates to see what we might do for you.

When speaking of environmental conditions, there are few situations more demanding than industrial applications.  Bertec produces tire-testing transducers for Goodyear and TMSI.  Our industrial transducers can handle the conditions found in most factories.  Most Bertec products are heat and cold resistant and can be made waterproof.

Mounting Plates

To optimize the performance of your load cells and force plates, Bertec offers mounting solutions.  Our mounting plates provide a rigid, level surface for the transducers.  This ensures reliable data.  Your mounting plate can be as unique as your force plate.  We have installed force transducers and mounting plates in the sides of Olympic-sized swimming pools to measure the forces of swimmers’ flip kicks.  We have built mounting plates that allow multiple force plate configurations for gait labs throughout the United States.
